“in” or “on”

1.  A: Look! Jack is in the tree. 看! 杰克在树上。
B: He is picking the pears on the tree. 他在摘树上的梨。
（果实长在树上，常用介词on。）
     

2.  A: There is a carriage on (at) the street corner. 一辆马车在街角上。
B: He was seated in the corner of the room.  他坐在房间角落里。
（在街角里用on；而在房间的角落里用in。）
    

3.  A: I read the news in The Times yesterday. 我昨天在《泰晤士报》上看到了这条消息。
B: You must write your names on the papers before you answer questions. 你必须在试卷上写好姓名，再回答问题。
（消息登在报上用in；写在纸上用on。）
    

4.  A: Don’t read in bed. 别躺着看书。
B: His grandpa is sitting on the bed. 他的祖父坐在床上。
（in bed是固定搭配，意为“躺在床上”。）
    

5.  A: The man is sitting in the armchair. 那人坐在扶手椅上。
B: There is a baby on the chair. 椅子上有一个婴儿。
（坐在有扶手的椅子里用in。）
    

6.  A: There is a window in the back wall. 后墙上有一个窗户。
B: Put up the oil painting on the wall. 把这张油画贴在墙上。
（在某物体里用in；在平面或线上用on。）
     

7.  A: I learned that the old man was badly hurt in the leg and was sent to the  hospital. 我得知那位老人的腿伤的很重，被送进了医院。
B: Her father patted her on the back. 她的父亲拍了拍她的背。
（强调接触人体表面较硬的部位时，多用on；身体内部用in。）
